It’s one thing to live in Colorado, enjoying great weather and outdoor activities year-round. It’s quite another to make your home at Rendezvous Colorado in Winter Park, where you’re minutes from the No. 1 ski area in the country (three years in a row), surrounded by some of the best fly-fishing, mountain biking trails and hiking in the state, and just a short drive from the majestic elk and moose roaming through Rocky Mountain National Park.

More than 300 families from Colorado and around the country have put down roots at Rendezvous and created a new community in the Fraser Valley. “The common threads that tie our buyers together isn’t age or family makeup or even where they live,” says Dana Keller, builder Koelbel & Company’s vice president of sales and marketing. “Instead, it’s a shared love of nature and the outdoors, a common desire to create meaningful family memories, and a penchant for down-to-earth genuineness.”

Speaking of family memories, Keller explained that the Koelbel family has a meaningful history in the Valley. Buz Koelbel’s grandfather, Carl Norgren, owned a ranch in the Valley (on the other side of Highway 40 from Rendezvous) that gained notoriety when then president, Dwight Eisenhower, visited his friend Carl Norgren to fish and take a break from Washington. Buz and his four siblings learned to ski at Ski Idlewild–where Rendezvous’ expansion property is located. In many ways, the care that Koelbel has shown in the development and design of homes at Rendezvous is deeply personal.

The latest parcel at Rendezvous, opened in December of last year, includes single-family homes in four floor plans with abundant gathering space, multiple suites and expansive outdoor areas. The architects who designed these stunning, mountain-modern homes specialize in mountain home design. “We know our buyers want to spend time with multi-generations and multiple families when they enjoy their home away from home,” Keller says. “We’ve also added an elevator to our Uphill floor plans, allowing for all ages to access all levels of the home.”

Plans are underway to build *Rendezvous River Club on the Fraser River. The proposed design includes a pool, hot tubs, a cold plunge, an outdoor kitchen and a turf area for play. The Clubhouse will include a large great room with a self-serve bar, a private dining space and catering kitchen, a game room, fitness center, yoga studio and locker rooms. *Plans are not yet approved and the River Club is not a guaranteed future amenity.

If the natural serenity of life at Rendezvous wasn’t enough, the range of this community’s amenities seal the deal. There are miles of trails throughout the community that tie into the County trail system, and an opt-in private membership in the newly remodeled Rendezvous Mountain Club–an alpine club at the base of Winter Park ski area that provides seasonal ski storage, day lockers, and a place to connect for hot drinks and a snack. A gorgeous pilgrimage trail winds right into the location of the historic town of Arrow, celebrating the history of the Fraser Valley. “Koelbel is also designing and building the new Idlewild Park,” Keller says, “which will pay homage to the historic Idlewild Ski Area. We also partnered with the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) on the design to ensure the Park will be accessible for all to enjoy.”
