At low-maintenance Denio West in Longmont by Boulder Creek Neighborhoods, homeowners swap yardwork for free time.
Located at 9th Avenue and Hover Street in Longmont, Denio West by Boulder Creek Neighborhoods basks in local amenities and a convenient location just outside of Boulder. Community Sales Manager Teri Winchester says, “One of the things I hear from Denio homeowners is how the low-maintenance lifestyle gives them the free time to explore the Boulder County area.” She adds, “This neighborhood is a perfect location for those who love Longmont and those who are just discovering it. It really is a community within a community.”
With only five quick move-in homes currently available at Denio West, now is the time to claim a new lifestyle with a Boulder Creek low-maintenance home. The Denio West neighborhood, which is nearing its build out, features two low-maintenance home series – easyHouse® patio homes and the yourHouse townhomes.
Less maintenance, more living
Two years ago, after downsizing from an expansive home in Boulder, Lisa Radelet, communications director at Boulder Valley Women’s Health Center, rented a condo in Gunbarrel. “As I thought about my new stage of life, I realized that I didn’t want to live in an apartment for the next 20 years. I wanted to own something instead of being at the mercy of the rent going up every year,” she said. She consulted her financial advisor and decided to “do the brave thing,” she said.
This month Radelet is moving into a new patio home at Denio West. She chose the easyHouse 33 floor plan, which at 1,695 square feet is “sized just right for me,” Radelet said. “It’s exactly between my large home in Boulder and the tiny condo I’ve been living in. I love that it has plenty of light and feels open without the upkeep and maintenance of my former home,” she said. “This feels like a really good fresh start.”
Radelet wanted a few specifics in a new home, and Denio West delivered them all. “The low-maintenance aspect of Boulder Creek caught my eye and was my first requirement. I did not want to deal with mowing a lawn or shoveling snow,” she said. That low-maintenance lifestyle is a signature of Boulder Creek’s neighborhoods: many exterior household maintenance chores are managed on behalf of the homeowner, reducing hassles and allowing more free time.
It’s one of the reasons that Winchester loves her role. “Boulder Creek aims to help home buyers discover the best fit for their lifestyle in a home that empowers their passions and enhances their joy,” she says.
A Boulder resident for 17 years, Radelet is excited about her Longmont adventure. She says, “Since I like to take a daily walk, I’m looking forward to exploring the trails and paths of Longmont. I love the views and that I’m close to plenty of restaurants, shopping and the Boulder County Farmer’s Market – everything I need!”

Right-sized designs
In addition to a low-maintenance lifestyle, Radelet had ideas on the functionality of the floor plan as well. “I also wanted a place I could age into without worrying about the exterior, and I’m looking forward to having a garage again,” she said with a laugh.
Hence, finding a home featuring main-floor living was paramount in Radelet’s search. After discovering the easyHouse patio homes, Radelet appreciated the wide hallways and minimum-step layout of her new home. The laundry room is steps from the master suite and second bedroom, and an optional flex room may be converted to a third bedroom or study. “It’s not just the big things, like main-floor living,” says Winchester, “we look at smaller details as well, all in the name of convenience.” To that end, Boulder Creek even anchors electric outlets higher than standard placements. “Our goal is to make home living as relaxed as possible,” Winchester said.
The kitchen might be Radelet’s favorite space. She said one of the best parts about the design process was being able to select the finishes she desired while still maintaining a reasonable final price of the home. “I added upgrades as I decided what features were important to me,” she says. Partnering with Boulder Creek‘s professional design team, she chose flooring upgrades and embraced a neutral color palate that weaves creams and tans throughout her home. In addition, Radelet was able to add in a couple of transom windows and a fireplace to create a peaceful, sun-filled, cozy great room area, perfect for her afternoon reading. “I enjoy home hobbies like reading and quilting,” she said, “so I especially wanted a home I felt comfortable in, a home that is a calming place.”
Denio West Community Sales Manager Teri Winchester concurred: “Our homes feature high ceilings, lots of windows and a very modern open concept, which buyers love.” Outside, a front patio welcomes visitors, while a spacious back porch gives plenty of room for outdoor furniture and a grill, ideal for entertaining.
For Radelet, the home’s bones are as important as what she sees. “I wanted a home that would require very little repair or remodeling,” she said. Winchester nods, “A warranty and personalized finishes are great reasons to purchase a new home.” Boulder Creek’s construction techniques and energy efficient appliances are designed to deliver future savings for homeowners. “Boulder Creek is known for the pride we take in what we do, and how we build behind the walls. Each of our buyers can feel at peace knowing these homes are designed with energy efficiency and longevity in mind,” says Winchester.
