Outreach and involvement inspire others to lend their support

We all know what Realtors do. They help people buy and sell homes.

But their profession also puts them in a unique position to understand what our communities are all about. Beyond home sales and neighborhoods, there are the daily details of how we live as citizens: the economy, amenities, and the needs that together form the lifeblood of any city.

The management and Realtors of RE/MAX of Boulder, boulderco.com, have a long-established legacy of community outreach in support of many local initiatives and nonprofits through volunteering, serving on Boards, making donations and publicizing important causes. The company has even created a dedicated website to keep local residents informed about our community and ongoing philanthropic opportunities. Bouldersource.com is an online community hub for news and events showcasing behind-the-scenes stories about Boulder’s people, nonprofits and businesses.

RE/MAX of Boulder was recently named a “Miracle Office” by Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) for supporting Children’s Hospital Colorado through donations from each home sale. These donations help support the care of sick and injured children and their families. They are vital for providing best-in-class care for kids in Colorado and surrounding areas, and are typically used to fund treatments and programs, research, equipment and charitable care.

Continually acknowledged as one of the nation’s outstanding pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report, Children’s Colorado is known for both its nationally and internationally recognized medical, research, education and advocacy programs, as well as comprehensive everyday care for kids throughout Colorado and surrounding states.

Children’s Colorado also is recognized for excellence in nursing from the American Nurses Credentialing Centers and has been designated a Magnet® hospital since 2005. The hospital’s family-centered, collaborative approach combines the nation’s top pediatric doctors, nurses and researchers to pioneer new approaches to pediatric medicine.

“We are honored to be named a ‘Miracle Office’ and to be able to support an exemplary hospital which is providing outstanding care to children and families from across our state,” says RE/MAX of Boulder Managing Broker Todd Gullette.

On July 12, Children’s Colorado/CMNH joined RE/MAX of Boulder at Bands on the Bricks, and presented them with a plaque naming RE/MAX of Boulder a “Miracle Office.”

RE/MAX of Boulder also invited Kacie Thomas, CMNH Manager at Children’s Hospital Colorado Foundation, to have a table at Bands on the Bricks where she shared information with the public. Joshua Riley, co-manager of Dairy Queen at 3265 North 28th Street, another CMNH partner, joined the table to help publicize the lead up to Dairy Queen’s Miracle Treat Day on July 27, in which a portion of sales of Blizzards were donated to CMNH.

Kacie Thomas says, “The partnership with RE/MAX of Boulder has been incredible. Their staff works hard to make sure that every person in the office is aware of the Miracle System and Children’s Colorado is part of their day-to-day work. Not only have they made sure to involve their staff, but they’ve also gone the extra mile to collaborate with other CMNH partners in the Boulder area to make our CMN philanthropy even more prominent in the Boulder community. We are so grateful for the partnership with RE/MAX of Boulder and can’t thank them enough for the impact they’ve made to help the kids at Children’s Colorado!”

Stories of support like this take on a new personal connection when someone you know is impacted. This is the case for RE/MAX of Boulder Realtor Bob Luhr, who has experienced this first-hand. When his son, Alex, was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 1995, Bob’s family began a life-long relationship with the doctors and staff at Children’s Colorado. Every six months, Alex visits the multidisciplinary clinic which is a part of the Neuromuscular Program for evaluation and treatment by a multidisciplinary team. Included are specialists in neurology, rehabilitation medicine, cardiology, pulmonology, respiratory therapy, physical therapy, nursing, social work, genetic counseling and nutrition, many of whom have seen Alex from the beginning. “The quality of care he has received is superb and typical of the experiences other families have had when dealing with a myriad of challenging childhood diseases,” Bob Luhr says. “We are most fortunate to have Children’s Colorado in our community.”

It is truly an integral community resource for the entire Rocky Mountain region.”
