LONGMONT – The Longmont Association of Realtors® (LAR) interviews candidates for all local elections, asking them questions related to only real estate issues. After considering the candidates responses, the Association determines which candidates are worthy of support. For the 2017 City Council race, LAR has determined the following candidates will best represent Realtors® and private property owners in Longmont: Mayor: Brian Bagley; At-Large: Alex Sammoury; and Ward 2: Jeff Moore.
These candidates agree transportation is a priority for our city, support the Windy Gap ballot measure and believe Longmont can best create new housing by allowing the free market to function and the use of incentives, not mandates, to encourage the creation of affordable housing products.
In addition to candidate endorsements, LAR also supports two Longmont ballot measures relevant to the real estate industry: the public safety sales tax increase (ballot measure 2H) and bonding for Windy Gap (ballot measure 2J). In announcing LAR’s support for the measures Chair James Plaster said, “Funding public safety and ensuring a plentiful water supply are important priorities for residents both now and for the future.”
