Moderately-priced town homes, cottages, and condo lofts from Markel Homes make owning a home a realistic goal even in this market.
Buying a home in today’s robust real estate market can be out of reach for first time buyers and folks heading into retirement. Michael Markel, owner and president of Markel Homes, a Boulder-based development and home building company, wants to change that.
“Home ownership has become unreachable for too many people,” says Markel. “We’re on a mission to create quality homes at a more obtainable price point. We’re designing and building products that hopefully more folks can afford, while still maintaining our brand of quality, style and performance. It’s about giving people options when they’re ready to buy.”
Markel’s moderately-priced options include town homes in Lafayette and Longmont; condo lofts at North End in Louisville; and smaller single-family homes, or contemporary cottages, at Silver Creek in Lafayette. The architecture is from the Markel Homes Modern American Classics Collection. Pricing ranges from the low to high $400s.
Town homes in Lafayette and Longmont
Open plans and huge windows give Markel’s triplex town homes a spacious, open feel. Designer-selected finishes and colors add to their appeal. Each unit at Blue Sage in west Lafayette has a private entrance, outdoor living area, and attached garage. The three-bed, 3-½ bath floor plan features an open living and kitchen area plus powder room on the main floor, two en-suite bedrooms with baths on the upper level, and a third bedroom or flex space, bath and rec room on the finished lower level. Pricing starts at $475,900.
Triplex town homes will be coming to the Silver Creek neighborhood in Lafayette in 2021. Presales will begin this fall, with pricing in the $400s. Interested buyers are encouraged to sign up for the interest list at MarkelHomes.com.
Town homes are currently available at West Grange, the Markel Homes community located at 75th Street and Nelson Road in southwest Longmont. With four units to a building, the contemporary styling features flat roofs, huge windows, and spacious decks. Open living, dining and cooking areas plus outdoor living are on the main level. Buyers can choose from two floor plans: one features two bedrooms and two baths on the upper level; the other has an upper level loft or optional third bedroom. All units have a two-car garage at street level. Pricing starts at $443,900.
Stylish condo lofts at North End in Louisville
Unlike anything available in Boulder County, these two-bed two-bath contemporary lofts offer lock ‘n leave convenience, comfort, functionality and minimal maintenance. The custom-designed 12-plex places every loft in a corner location. Large windows in the great room and master suite create a bright, open interior. Each condo has a single-car garage or carport and a patio or deck. The building has an elevator and secure front entry. Construction begins this month on a new 12-plex, with pricing from $406,900.
Contemporary cottages going fast
Markel Homes hit a home run with their contemporary cottage designs, currently available at Silver Creek in Lafayette – but not for long. One cottage, a two-story Modern Farmhouse, is on the market for $478,675. Impeccable planning turns every inch of the contemporary cottage into useable space. A wall of windows in the open living and cooking area overlooks an upper level deck.
The plan features three bedrooms, two baths, and an attached garage. The cottages are high-performing single-family homes, built to last and efficient to own and operate. Certifications from Energy Star, Indoor AirPlus, LEED, and the Department of Energy’s Zero Energy Ready Home program deliver comfort, healthy air, and efficient water and energy use for years to come.
No upgrades needed
Markel Homes believes in giving buyers the features they want without spending more money for upgrades. Stainless steel Whirlpool appliances, durable wide plank Coretec flooring and quartz surfaces are standard in the town homes, condo lofts and cottages.
The homes are equipped with programmable smart thermostats and air conditioning. The color schemes and finish selections are the work of a professional designer. Buyers can feel confident that the entire home, from the choice of building materials to the light fixture in the bath, reflects the style and quality of the Markel Homes brand.
Live near trails, parks and open space
Condo, town home and cottage homeowners enjoy trails, adjacent open space, and the walk or bike-to convenience of nearby shops, parks and even lakes. Commuting routes to Boulder, Denver and DIA are minutes from home, and certain locations feature year-round Back Range mountain views.
