For Catherine Davis – an entrepreneur, small business owner, widow, and empty nester with two grown children – a low-maintenance home is crucial to her never-stop lifestyle. “As the largest Allstate agency in northern Colorado, we are always busy,” said Catherine, owner of Davis Financial and Insurance Group in Louisville and Longmont. “Having a beautiful, well-built home that didn’t require me to shovel snow before work or spend my weekend in the yard was paramount.”
After five years in a low-maintenance townhome at Calmante by Boulder Creek, Davis moved a little ways down the road to the Villas at Calmante neighborhood, currently in their final phase of ranch-style patio homes. “I knew I loved the people of Calmante and the homes by Boulder Creek. Additionally, I had such a good experience working with the sales manager, Chris Mason,” she said. “Chris understood my needs and tailored in the sales process to accommodate my busy lifestyle. He delivered a very personalized buying experience.”
That personalized buying experience helped Davis get exactly want she wanted, including an optional entertainer’s kitchen to support her passion for cooking. “The kitchen is sleek and beautiful,” she said. “I love the huge pantry, huge refrigerator, two dishwashers and the double ovens.” Davis takes kitchen-centered hospitality seriously: With the help of neighbors, she settled into her new home the day before Thanksgiving, and she recalled, “Once I realized several of our neighbors didn’t have Thanksgiving plans, we decided to have them all over.” She hosted 10 people on Thanksgiving Day and another 10 on Christmas. “There were still a few unopened boxes at Christmas, but that’s how we roll,” Davis said with a laugh. “We’re a community at Calmante. My neighbors and I get along really well and watch out for each other. We have similar lifestyles and interests – travel, wine, cooking.” In fact, the Calmante community holds regular Friday happy hours, and many households take turns hosting summer picnics, Fourth of July parties, and spontaneous porch gatherings year-round.

Catherine mentions how ideal it is for walking, jogging, biking, and birdwatching. Aside from the well-apportioned kitchen, Davis relishes the sunny, open-concept great room and the technological upgrades. “As a single mom and widow, I was grateful that Boulder Creek offered the extended wi-fi and even the speakers on the porch,” she said. “I love to sit out there enjoying music and talking to neighbors passing by.” Likewise, one of her favorite perks is the optional gas line stub to the back patio. “It’s so simple, but I am so thankful that the grill is connected to the gas line. After my husband died, one of the saddest things was having to lug on and off a Propane tank.” It’s sometimes the little things that grow such fond memories and make the house feel so much more like a home.
Boulder Creek Neighborhood’s thoughtful design touches not only make home life simpler for Davis, but they also streamline her schedule. “I’m just too busy to have to think about outside home chores. I needed a low-maintenance home, and Boulder Creek gave me that.” Davis frequently travels, so “knowing I didn’t need to think about maintenance is wonderful,” she said. Components of Boulder Creek’s Calmante neighborhood are managed by a third-party Home Owner’s Association, so many exterior yard work chores are taken care of, giving each homeowner more opportunities do the things they love.
Similarly, though Davis said she didn’t have much time to plan or design a home, Boulder Creek skillfully facilitated the process through their in-house design team and their trusted partner, Saddleback Design of Denver. “Saddleback helped me take the palette I wanted – we are very much a white, gray and black type of family – and they helped me pick out the right tile to complement the countertops and flooring,” she said. “I have a finance and numbers brain, not a creative brain, yet they were able to help me put it all together nicely.” Davis opted for quartz countertops with waterfall edging and said she loves the calm, artful lines.
The Villa 43’s walk-out lower level also appealed to Davis, who arranged a cozy getaway in the finished basement with two TVs for watching multiple football games at one time. “Sports is another of my hobbies, and I like to be able to watch two different games at the same time,” she explained. The lower level also includes a bedroom, bathroom and an unfinished area for storage or a crafting studio.
On the main floor, Davis chose to close off the open study for a second main floor bedroom suite, giving her additional space for a den or workout space.
