Hosted by BizWest and sponsored by RE/MAX of Boulder, the annual Boulder Valley Real Estate Conference will be held virtually this year on Nov. 17, 18 and 19. The conference features an outstanding lineup of national keynote speakers and local real estate experts who will discuss key issues, trends, predictions and top developments in commercial and residential real estate.

The conference schedule is as follows: Tues., Nov. 17, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon; Wed., Nov. 18, 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.; and Thurs., Nov. 19, 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon. In the past, the conference has taken place during one full day. This year it is spread out over three mornings and there will no concurrent sessions so attendees will be able to join every session and participate in optional online networking opportunities.

Day One will feature Patty Silverstein, president and chief economist of Development Research Partners, who will kick off the conference with an overview of the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

For updates at the local and state level, speakers will include Stephen Tebo (Tebo Properties), Becky Gamble (Dean Callan & Company), Giovanni Ruscitti (Berg Hill Greenleaf Ruscitti LLP), and Jeff Wingert (W.W. Reynolds Companies) who will dive into lease and lending issues with COVID-19.

Even during the pandemic, communities throughout Boulder Valley are seeing significant new commercial construction. A panel of representatives from each community will give us an overview of upcoming projects that are planned and in process during the “Breaking Ground” panel.

On Day Two, the Commercial Estate Forecast will be presented by Lynda Gibbons and Gregory Glass from Gibbons-White. Next, Andrew Freeman (Freeman-Myre), Ben Wolf (Conscience Bay Company) and Brandon Jenkins (St. John Properties) will report on what effects coronavirus has had on available inventory and investment activity moving forward.

Wrapping up Day Two will be a session reporting on what the election results mean for real estate financing, mortgage rates, and other federal policies. This session will be moderated by Jay Kalinski (RE/MAX of Boulder) with panelists Lou Barnes (Premier Mortgage Group), Elizabeth Peetz (Colorado Association of Realtors® Government Affairs), Ted Leighty (Colorado Association of Homebuilders).

On Day Three, the Residential Forecast presented by Todd Gullette (RE/MAX of Boulder) is a highlight of the conference. Given the volatility of 2020, this will be one of Todd’s most interesting presentations.

Next Lisa Wade (RE/MAX of Boulder) will moderate a panel on the COVID Effect, exploring its impact on the residential sales process and several key factors affecting the real estate industry. Panelists will be Lauren Hansen (IRES), Scott Peterson (Colorado Association of Realtors®), Ben Keidan (Boulder Community Hospital), and Mark Woulf (City of Boulder).

The final panel, moderated by Duane Duggan (RE/MAX of Boulder), will discuss the volatility of the residential rental market with coronavirus. Stephanie Ianonne (Housing Helpers), Todd Ulrich (PG Rentals) and Jeff Morris (CU-Boulder) will be the panelists.

We are excited to close out the conference with two national powerhouse speakers including Lawrence Yun, Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of Research, and John Covert, Director, Colorado/New Mexico Region for Metrostudy. These speakers will provide insightful and prescient national and state overviews of the real estate market, both commercial and residential, and economic conditions during the pandemic.
