LOVELAND – Winter has definitely arrived, but are you ready for it? In addition to the winter home checkup that we shared with you several weeks ago, it’s also important to keep your home stocked for winter. Here are a few ideas.

Winter supplies

Don’t wait for an impending storm to get some necessary winter weather supplies. Shop now for sand or salt to treat your walkways. Make sure that you also have a decent working shovel for your property and snow brushes for your car.

Food supplies

We’ve all seen how crazy the super market can get immediately before a snow storm. Don’t wait for the last minute to get your food supplies. Stock up on water and dry goods for your home. Canned foods, crackers, and other similar foods are great to have on hand and do not need electricity to prepare.

Winter clothing

Another thing in high demand right before a snow storm is winter snow gear. It’s always best to have these items on hand well ahead of when you need them. Make sure you have winter gloves, a warm hat, and other necessities. Snow pants are also great for shoveling snow or simply enjoying the cold but beautiful winter wonderland.

Sealing up your home

If your home tends to be drafty during cold weather conditions, visit your local hardware store for window and/or door coverings. Several options are available. You can cover windows in plastic or use insulating curtains. Options are also available for sliding doors.

Stay safe and warm this winter

As you can tell, the trend here is basically not to wait until the last minute. The above items are all things that you need during winter, so why not have them on-hand now and reduce the stress that normally accompanies an upcoming storm. Buying supplies now also ensures that items will be in stock
