AltaVita Senior Residences expects to begin taking deposits and assigning units for the new independent living building as early as summer 2018.
LONGMONT – Once word got out that AltaVita Senior Residences is opening a first-class, brand-new building for independent living and assisted living in a great location in Longmont, AltaVita’s phones were ringing and e-mails were arriving from Colorado and outside the state.
“We haven’t even run an ad yet, but there is tremendous interest,” says Lorene Wilkins, Community Director of Sales and Marketing for AltaVita Senior Residences. “We are already taking reservations and deposits from people in Boulder County, Denver, Larimer and Weld counties. If you want to be specific about the location of your suite or unit in the building, you should make your deposit now.”
AltaVita Senior Residences in Longmont includes AltaVita Assisted Living Memory Care Centre, which was introduced in 2012, and AltaVita Independent and Assisted Living, scheduled to open this year on July 1.
AltaVita Senior Residences offers services and amenities that promote an enriched lifestyle. “We are known for trusted care, lifestyle and location,”
says Wilkins.
“With our Memory Care building doing well, our developer, Macy Development, decided to add another residential building, AltaVita Independent and Assisted Living, to serve people living independently or who need some aspects of assisted living.” Macy Development is a family owned and operated company in Longmont.
The new standard in senior living
The new 66,939-square-foot, 67-room residential facility will include 34 studios, 29 one-bedroom units and four suites. Besides the residential units, the facility will house two guest suites, a dining room, bistro and ice cream parlor, fitness center, hair salon, barber shop and more. Outdoor features including a bocce ball court, waterfall and outdoor dining area. Many more amenities and all kinds of services distinguish the new facility.
Life enriching educational programs, events and activities are planned. A health and wellness program will be available to all residents with optional personal fitness programs offered. There is a fitness room, a media room, a craft room and more to engage the residents.
“It’s the new standard in independent and assisted living,” says Wilkins.
She describes the new building and its amenities as both “luxurious and affordable. We are priced effectively and appropriately for our location. The Macy high standard of design will be prevalent: a hospitality-style environment, like a luxury hotel or resort. High ceilings, granite countertops, crown moldings are all standard – not extra.
“We offer more convenience for people who are downsizing and want to have this lifestyle. Our location is excellent – right near the mall and King Soopers. It’s like a village concept, adding all those conveniences. Providing continuity of leadership is equally important to our vision. Our medical director, Haleh Nekoorad-Long, M.D., P.C., is overseeing all care; and Executive Director Linda Berens is the administrator of the Assisted Living Memory Care Centre and the new Independent and Assisted Living community. Live here, enjoy the lifestyle and you can have a plan for going forward in your journey.”
The AltaVita campus will eventually include a range of retirement living and health care services designed for seniors, including short-term rehabilitation services and nursing home care.

AN INTERVIEW WITH DON MACY OF MACY DEVELOPMENT
What is your vision for AltaVita Senior Residences and the entire AltaVita campus?
Our vision is to create a continuing care retirement community to address the needs of the area’s aging population in a manner which will be respectful of the residents and their aging process.
What distinguishes your buildings and concepts?
We made the decision to have separate facilities for each of the different types of senior needs such as memory care, independent and assisted living as well as age restricted apartments and cottages vs. the more typical arrangement of having most if not all of those types of care in a single building. By separating the facilities we can design and operate each of them for the population for which they were intended.
What key messages would you like to convey to the readership of “At Home”?
We are developing a community environment in which we believe those who want to or need to be part of an aging community will be able to do so with dignity so they will be able to enjoy the remaining years of their life in a comfortable setting with the utmost of professional care. We are very proud of the staff at our community and the outstanding care they give to the residents and their families.
