BOULDER – University of Colorado Boulder earned strong marks in the latest list of Best National Universities for 2017 published in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Colleges report.

Boulder’s flagship university is No. 38 among top public universities and comes in at No. 92 when compared with all 1,800 U.S.-based public, private and for-profit schools. Several specific programs at CU Boulder are among the top 25 in the nation, including the undergraduate engineering and business schools.

Undergraduate engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder ranks No. 18 of public institutions that offer a doctorate as the highest degree, and
No. 32 overall.

CU Boulder’s Aerospace Engineering program earned the No. 12 spot.

 Leeds School of Business undergraduate business program ranks No. 21 of the public universities and No. 32 overall.

For military veterans and those on active-duty, CU Boulder is listed high among top institutions that help make college more affordable – No. 27 among public universities and No. 59 overall.

In graduate level programs, CU Boulder earned the following marks:

MBA – No. 77
MBA Part time – No. 59
Law – No. 40
Engineering – No. 33
Education – No. 28

University of Colorado Boulder is the only school in the Rocky Mountain Region named to the elite group of 62 research universities that make up the Association of American Universities.

U.S. News & World Report rankings are based on measures of academic peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

“National Universities” are the 310 institutions – 189 public, 114 private and seven for-profit institutions – that offer a wide range of undergraduate majors as well as master’s and doctoral degrees; some emphasize research.
